Noble Star Rally's (NSR) Amanda Skelly and Villa Cseh of Jonas Racing will be joining forces at next weeks 2018 Hyperfest, held at the Virginia International Raceway. Skelly and Cseh were registered to compete at the Sandblast Rally in March, but due to mechanical issues with Skelly's Subaru, the two withdrew from the competition. The ladies will be making another attempt to compete together while raising awareness for Lupus and Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
During the 3 day event, you will find the ladies involved in various activities. The event has coordinated a vendor booth available for the team to set up and raise awareness for the cause. On Friday, Skelly’s new rally car (“Stitch”) will be set-up under the NSR/Link ECU tent, along with a few tables full of limited edition NSR T-shirts, Subaru swag, purple ribbon swag and information about the illnesses. All proceeds go to the Lupus Foundation of America and the CF Foundation.
“It’s a big event for us for various reasons. In my home, we battle CF and Lupus every day, so raising awareness and being able to raise money for the foundations allows us to aid in research for a cure for both diseases”, says Skelly. “I also feel like I owe it to Villa to give us a second chance at working together so early in the season, because Sandblast had not worked in our favor. Not only is this a big opportunity to raise awareness for a huge cause; this is also a chance for new beginnings and to show the world a bit of Stitch’s personality, as well as ours”, she adds”
The team has been working diligently since the Eastern Tennessee RallySprint last month to finalize some details on the rally car and ensure it is ready to perform appropriately for the tarmac and gravel stages. Skelly, along with crew member Mike Butler, recently repainted the car and are preparing for graphics to be installed by 5 Star Graphics of Raleigh, NC.
“The car is scheduled to go to 5 star Design (Window Tinting and Graphics) next week to have the new livery installed. There are a lot of small tasks that have to line up just right in order for us to get the new livery done in time for the event, but I am staying positive,” states Skelly.
Skelly will be giving ride-alongs to spectators on Saturday, and on Sunday the girls will be competing in the Hyperfest RallySprint on the race track. The team encourages anyone attending the event to stop in at the 10x20 Link ECU/NSR tent in the vendor area.
Friday, 18 May is a nationwide event called “Put On Purple” for Lupus. The NSR team is asking others to wear purple to show support for the #RaceForACure cause and contribute to raising awareness. The team will have purple pins and buttons available at their booth for spectators.
“Villa and I will be rocking a lot of purple next weekend, so you should not miss us!”
