Noble Star Rally Team to Support Cystic Fibrosis Awareness
July 8, 2016
Noble Star Rally’s (NSR) Amanda Skelly and Elizabeth Cordara will be piloting the Broken Motorsports rally rental for this year’s 2016 New England Forest Rally (NEFR) on July 15th and 16th in Newry, ME. The girls will be the events only all female rally team to compete.
Skelly last competed at NEFR in 2014 with co-driver veteran Amy Feistel. After retiring her Subaru last season, Skelly has been taking the opportunity to navigate for NSR drivers Ian Kessler and Matt Peterson while in the process of completing a new build. She and Cordara competed earlier this year in the Broken Motorsports rental where they finished 5th in class.
In honor of Skelly’s 25th stage rally, the girls have launched a campaign to support awareness for Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a “progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time” (cff.org). For every $10 that is donated a purple ribbon for CF will be placed on the rally car. The overall goal is 300 ribbons. 10% of all proceeds will be donated to the CF Foundation to aid in the search for a cure, while the other funds support the rally rental and getting the ladies back on stage for one last time this season.
The team supports many causes, however raising awareness for CF is important to the team as NSR member Ian Kessler has been battling the disease since infancy. In the event that Kessler should be well enough to attend the event, he will be filling the co-drivers seat for NSR driver Matt Peterson and the team will be extending some of the funds raised to cover Kessler’s racing costs. Additional ribbons are planned to be displayed on Peterson’s civic in support of the teams “Race For a Cure” mantra.
The team would like to extend thanks to Slow Sally's Stickers & Things who is donating the vinyl and decals for the cause. They would also like to thank their event sponsors, Turtle Gloves, BRAID Wheels USA and Broken Motorsports. Additionally, another thanks is extended to Twisted Nuts Racing for additional vinyls, and to those who have donated to the team.
