Noble Star Rally Introduces New Co-Driver at STPR
Noble Star Rally driver Amanda Skelly will be joined by a surprise guest co-driver at this years 2014 Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally. The rally takes place this weeked on May 30-31, in Wellsboro, PA. The STPR Rally is the oldest race on the schedule running since 1977, and one of the fastest rallies in North America with speeds reaching 100MPH through densely wooded roads that consist of clay and gravel. The course is fast, slippery and extremely dangerous and has been said that it is not for the faint at heart.
Due to a work conflict, NSR’s usual co-driver Derrick Rudisel will no longer be in attendance. Skelly will be joined by Michigan native, Elizabeth Cordara, making up the second all female team at STPR alongside Tracey Gardiner and Tabitha Lohr of TAG Rally Sport. The ladies met during the 2013 Sandblast rally in Cheraw, SC. They share the same passion for the sport and both uphold the grassroots mantra. With similar backgrounds in racing and dedication to the sport, the duo should have a successful event.
“I was extremely excited when Liz wrote me back and told me she was available for STPR and had really wanted to run this rally. I have been searching for some new opportunities and learning experiences this season and I think she has a lot to offer in terms of co-driving. I think we are going to make a great team and I am looking forward to this weekend.” says Skelly.
Cordara is the co-driver for RallyCats Moterspurtz team, lead by Kevin Allen. Her involvement in rally began in 2008 where she crewed for the USUK team at Rally West Virginia. She has participated in various autocross, rallycross and stage rally events over the years. In 2013, she and Allen won the Atlantic Rally Cup AWD Championship in their rookie year. They are currently in 3rd place for the 2014 NASA Rally Sport Championship.
"I’m really excited to be teaming up with Noble Star Rally for my first Rally America event," said Cordara,
"I’m looking forward to a great time in the car with driver Amanda Skelly. I hope we learn a lot from each other, but most importantly, have fun!! I’m also excited to be spending time with great rally people, both new and old" says an excited Cordara.
In 2013, Skelly set the fastest stage time in her class during the Super Special on day 2 and a personal best. Both Skelly and Cordara have a soft spot for rallycross and technical stages and are looking forward to competing with the other teams on the Waste Management stages and during the super special.
“Each year it’s about getting better and gaining more experience. STPR is one of my absolute favorite events and I look forward to the new challenges it presents” concludes Skelly.
