Noble Star Rally Successfully Completes Day One of New England Forest Rally
The all female rally team finished 5th of 11 in the Open Light class, but it was not without effort. While the boys finished 8th in Group 2.
"Originally, I planned on taking it a little easy because I'm supposed to drive the car back home to MI on Sunday. However after having issues overheating on stage 1, we just wanted to finish," says Skelly.
Though the rally presented swift and challenging roads, the girls dealt primarily with overheating after every stage and losing oil. Peterson and Kessler had a fairly smooth run today aside from a blown tire after SS4.
"We are happy to have finished day one. The car ran strong and the highlight of the day was being able to help out the Map Rally Team when we pulled them in to service after they had some mechanical issues," commented Peterson.
Tomorrow both teams plan to press on regardless and make their way thru the finish. Peterson's goal is to complete an entire Rally America event with co-driver Kessler after encountering several DNF's.
"Its about time those boys push thru the finish. As for us," says Skelly, "We are almost certain that the head gaskets are going in the rally car. So tomorrow our plan is to bring a lot of extra water and oil with us for after each stage so that we can make it through the day. I'm going to do my best to take it easier on the stages but still make sure we have fun. Originally I wanted to be able to drive home, now I just want to drive thru the finish."
